Improted Polish Sauerkraut

Sauerkraut is made by a process of pickling called fermentation. Fully-cured sauerkraut keeps for several months in an airtight container stored at or below 59 °F. Neither refrigeration nor pasteurization is required, although these treatments prolong storage life.
Health benefits have been claimed for raw sauerkraut. It contains vitamin C, lactobacilli, and other nutrients

 

Sauerkraut Salad Recipe: Ingredients 16 ounces of sauerkraut 1 cup grated carrots 1 cup chopped celery 1 cup chopped green pepper 1 cup chopped onion 4 ounces diced pimientos, drained 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 cup canola oil Directions In a large bowl, mix sauerkraut, carrots, celery, green pepper, onion and pimientos. In a jar or small bowl, combine sugar and oil. Pour over vegetables and mix well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours.
