Cabbage Stuffed Pierogi Recipe

Pierogi are your heritage. Cabbage pierogi are a tradition.

Prep: 30 Min Cook Time: 1 hrs Serves: 4-6

Ingredients

  • Filling
  • 1 pound boiled cabbage
  • 8 oz of dry cottage cheese
  • 1 minced onion
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • Dough
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 and 1/4 cups flour
  • dash of salt
  • 3 tablespoons butter

    Directions

    • boil, drain and chop cabbage
    • combine with cheese
    • saute onion in butter
    • combine with cabbage/cheese mix
    • salt to taste
    • combine eggs, flour, and salt
    • its ok to add water to get smooth dough
    • roll out thin and cut into 3" squares
    • place teaspoon of filling to each square
    • fold into triangles, pinch edges together
    • cook in pot of salted boiling water for 5 min
    • enjoy or....
    • OR pan fry with a melted stick of butter and sliced onion till all is golden brown
