These yeast cakes, or sweet buns are a staple of the Polish bakery! Made and served fresh each morning in Polish bakeries across Poland and throughout the world, they are often enjoyed as a mid-morning snack with tea or coffee! Made with a variety of fillings and sweet ingredients, there’s nothing quite like the taste of a warm drożdżówka enjoyed in the square of one of Poland’s beautiful cities! You don’t have to go that far, however, to enjoy this popular, Polish baked good. We’ve pulled together three of the most loved varieties of Polish sweet buns and made them available here on Polana.com. Each box contains one of each type of drożdżówka: a sweet cheese bun dusted with powdered sugar (“drożdżówka z serem”), “Makówka,” a poppy seed filled bun with almond shavings and a sugar glaze drizzled over the top, and Poland’s summertime favorite - the Jagodzianka, a sweet bun filled with fresh blueberries and topped with sweet bread crumbs!
