Poppy Seed Cheesecake

The cheesecake with a layer of poppy seed cake is a very well known Polish tradition, and a sweet often served alongside the Polish "makowiec" (poppy seed roll) at every Christmas. In some Polish households it's also a tradition enjoyed during Easter. But, this unique cheesecake can also be enjoyed any time of year whether or not you come from a Polish background! The delicately sweet and perfectly moist top cheesecake layer is contrasted by the unique aroma and taste of the poppy bottom layer and crumble crust. It's a very specific Polish baked good and one that you can only find at a traditional Polish foods store (like Polana.com)!
