The word “Babka” is a word that is almost always associated with “Wielkanoc,” - the Polish word for Easter. Though the babka, a round pound cake, is a popular baked good in Polish cuisine, like the Mazurek cake, it is almost exclusively connected to the Easter holiday. During the Easter season babka cakes are baked throughout Poland and in Polish communities around the world, and are made to according to various recipes. Although vanilla and/or lemon flavored cakes are the most popular, other recipes may include chocolate, ginger, cinnamon and other ingredients.
This 6” round babka is a unique spring flavored take on the classic Polish babka. Made of a traditional vanilla pound cake, it includes fresh cherries inside for a burst of sweet flavor. Gently covered with powdered sugar it can be cut into about 12-15 slices, perfect for an Easter brunch!
