Poppy seed Cheesecake - Seromak
The cheesecake with a layer of poppy seed cake is a very well known Polish tradition, and a sweet often served alongside the Polish "makowiec" (poppy seed roll) at every Christmas. In some Polish households it's also a tradition enjoyed during Easter. But, this unique cheesecake can also be enjoyed any time of year whether or not you come from a Polish background! The delicately sweet and perfectly moist top cheesecake layer is contrasted by the unique aroma and taste of the poppy bottom layer and crumble crust. With a drizzle of dark chocolate on top it makes for a very unique dessert - a very specific Polish baked good and one that you can only find at a traditional Polish foods store (like Polana.com)!

- Poppyseed part: poppyseeds, honey, butter, sugar, walnuts, almonds, almond extract
- Crust part: flour, sugar, eggs' yolks, baking powder

It arrived nicely and appeared delicious. Good flavor, not overly sweet but exceptionally dry and definitely not a cheesecake. It was so crumbly & dry, no one finished. It was so dry.
I enjoyed the cheese cake and the poppy seed added extra flavor. I have ordered it before and I probably oder it again in the future.
Brought back many memories of my childhood, my grandmother making the poppyseed rolls… this filling the same !!!
