Wedding Sausage - Weselna
If you know Polish culture, you know that a Polish wedding is a BIG celebration. One of the most elaborate aspects of any Polish wedding is the food that is served for the occasion! In the old days, in the Polish countryside families would celebrate nuptials with their very best homemade foods. In addition to serving a multi-course feast, it was also a particular point of pride for the parents and close family members of the bride and groom to offer the wedding guests a very large spread of the finest meat products (sausages, bacons, head cheese, etc.), often made according to the family’s own recipes and traditions. Though this wedding sausage, called “Kielbasa Weselna” in Polish (from the word “wesele” for “wedding”), does not come from a specific family tradition, it does represent that traditional Polish rustic taste!

The Weselna sausage has a great texture and aromatic flavor achieved by a combination of garlic and spices. It is also double smoked and fully cooked. This high quality kielbasa, made according to Poland’s old rustic traditions would surely be welcome addition to a classic Polish wedding spread, but it’s also suitable for far less festive occasions. Enjoyed at home with a bit of mustard or grated horseradish, with a thick slice of Polish country style bread, it brings back both the tastes and the sentiments of old-world Polish traditions.
