Sliced Dried Mushrooms (Runoland Borowik Krojony Suszony)
Mushroom picking is a very old and cherished Polish tradition and, naturally, it is an activity very closely connected to Poland’s rich cuisine! The Old-Polish cookbooks were once filled with “fruitti di forest” recipes many of which incorporated the various edible species of the fungi kingdom which abound in the forests of Poland. Wild mushrooms continue to be something Poles keep in high esteem. In fact, forest mushrooms are a favorite Polish taste, and this may be attributed to their unique taste and aroma - more intense and stronger with heavy peppery and earthy notes.
These boletus mushrooms will add a characteristic taste and beautiful aroma to many traditional Polish dishes. Add them into a mushroom sauce, a Hunter’s Stew (bigos) or a mushroom soup, or mix them into your stuffing for pierogi or traditional cabbage rolls for a richer and deeper flavor.
